Testimonies continue to pour in for Gov Ortom @ 60
More eulogies and testimonies from Nigerians of different walks of life poured in today at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Gboko road where a thanksgiving service was held to mark the 60th birthday of Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom.
Tor Tiv, His Royal Majesty, Professor James Ayatse described the Governor as focused and forthright in both his private and public life, saying he does not interfere in the running of the traditional institution but rather insists on fairness and justice for all.
Wife of the Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, Chief Mrs Regina Akume urged Benue people to be obedient unto to the word of God, saying He has a covenant with Governor Ortom and Benue people only need to support him through prayers.
Mrs Akume lamented the constant insults and unnecessary criticisms on leaders, stressing that it was time to do the will of God as nobody has any business other than praying for the Governor.
She prayed that the Governor holds unto God and rises to the wing of an eagle, saying that’s his limit.
State Deputy Governor, Engineer Benson Abounu acknowledged Mrs Eunice Ortom as the strongest support of the Governor through prayers, saying Governor Ortom had always allowed him to have his say, describing him as a good manager.
Engineer Abounu noted that the Governor has given him opportunities for which he would eternally remain grateful, pointing out that Governor Ortom had never given him an opportunity to have a quarrel or misunderstanding with him.
Chief Judge of Benue State, Justice Aondover Kaka’an in a testimony said the Governor had impacted positively on the Judiciary in the State, saying he is a beneficiary of the Governor’s forthrightness for insisting that leadership succession in the Judiciary depends strictly on seniority.
Senator representing Benue North West, Rt Hon Orker Jev said Nigeria is in turmoil and people are afraid to speak but Governor Ortom had broken the jinx, saying he had made them from the National Assembly very proud.
He encouraged the Governor to continue to speak out the truth to Nigerians, saying if one portion of the country is bad, it would affect others.
House of Representatives Member for Gwer-Gwer West, Hon Mark Gbillah who spoke for his colleagues, thanked the First Lady for standing by the Governor at all times.
He noted that Governor Ortom is a child of destiny, saying God equips the called and does not call the equiped, even as he pledged their continued support to the Ortom-led administration.
Wife of the Governor, Dr Eunice Ortom said it was a huge milestone in the life of someone special to her, saying she had seen the Governor faced challenges but still remains himself, adding that the family remains grateful to all that have identified with them.
Governor Ortom received presentations from the Redeemed Christian Church of God, National Union of Benue Students, Redeemer’s Men Fellowship and numerous other groups.
