1. The Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, has clarified that the quack who was alleged to have recently removed the ovary of a teenage girl during a failed appendix surgery in Gaav, Konshisha Local Government Area, LGA, of Benue State is not a trained medical doctor.

The NMA in a statement issued Monday in Makurdi by its Benue State branch signed by the Chairman, Dr. Samuel Otene and Secretary, Dr. Terna Gav described as misleading reports of the unfortunate incident which tagged the said quack/culprit, Mr. Agber Kwende, a doctor.

2. An All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial aspirant Professor Terhemba Shija, has said, if elected governor in 2023, he would rescue Benue State from the scourge of insecurity, cultism, HIV/AIDS and ignorance among other issues that may have held it captive.

The aspirant, who disclosed this during the presentation of his manifesto, ‘The Benue Rebuild Agenda’ at an interactive session with stakeholders in Makurdi on Friday, alleged that in recent years the state has gone down to “ground zero.”

3. The Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue state has constructed a Skills Acquisition and Youth Entrepreneurship Centre in Otukpo’Icho community to help train youths of the area in various arts and craft to help them become productive and self-reliant.At the commissioning which was witnessed by the people of area including political and community leaders as well as traditional rulers, Chairman of the Local Government Council, Mr. Alli said the project was dear to his heart because of the impact it would make on the lives of Otukpo youths.

4. Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom has Congratulated the Peoples Democratic Party  (PDP) Chairmen and councilors- elect in the just concluded Federal Capital Territory(FCT) Council polls held on Saturday, February 12th, 2022.

The governor who is also the Chairman of the PDP Campaign Council for the FCT election, said: “Yesterday’s election in the FCT is a sound note of warning to the APC that the time for playing games with the destiny of Nigeria is over. The people whose mandate we hold in trust have spoken. And I am convinced that this is just the beginning.”

5. The Senator representing Benue South Senatorial District, Comrade Abba Patrick Moro, on Monday, flagged off a three-day entrepreneurship training programme for participants from the Nine Local Government Areas of Benue South Senatorial District.The entrepreneurship training programme is part of the Senator’s numerous constituency empowerment programmes in agriculture, ICT, tailoring, cake-baking, soap-making, shoe-making, installations of solar energy systems, internet gadgets and other skills.

6. Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has said the just concluded Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Council polls was an indicator that time of playing games with destinies of Nigerians by the All Progressives Congress is over.

The governor stated this in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Nathaniel Ikyur, congratulating the Peoples Democratic Party  (PDP) Chairmen and councilors- elect who defeated the APC in the election.

7. AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) has said it will be conducting free HIV testing and giving out free condoms to people in Benue, Kogi, Anambra, Nasarawa, Akwa Ibom and Cross River State.

The organisation also revealed that an estimated one million people worldwide acquire sexually transmitted infection (STI) every day.
