Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, yesterday urged the people of the state to give thanks to God in appreciation for His positive intervention in the affairs of the state.

Ortom spoke at the IBB Square, Makurdi, during an interdenominational night of praise put together by the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in collaboration with the state government.
He said his decision to dedicate the state to God had already yielded results as kidnapping, assassination and the farmersherders’ crisis as well as other criminal activities, had been reduced in the state.

The governor assured the people that he would not be distracted from steering the affairs of the state with the fear of God as he was working hard to guarantee security of lives and property.

He commended CAN for forging unity among churches irrespective of the diverse doctrines, saying with such togetherness, a lot would be achieved in God’s work.

Governor Ortom advised the people not to be idle, but to engage in meaningful ventures in line with the teachings of the Bible, which said he who does not work, should not eat.

He urged the citizens to make efforts through cooperative societies and other platforms to access the N3 billion warehoused in the Bank of Industry (BoI) and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and made available for those willing to invest in the agricultural value chain.
