Abba Moro meets JEDC over prolonged power outage in Benue South
Senator representing Benue South Senatorial District, Patrick Abba Moro, on Tuesday met with officials of the Jos Electricity Distribution Company, JEDC, over the prolonged power outage affecting communities in the district.
The meeting, held on September 8, 2026, followed concerns over the electricity situation across parts of Benue South, where residents and businesses have been grappling with power supply challenges.
Moro met with the Manager of JEDC’s Otukpo Business Unit, Engr. John Ali, and also held telephone discussions with senior officials of the electricity distribution company.
Discussions centred on efforts to restore electricity supply to affected areas and address the challenges responsible for the outage.
According to information released after the meeting by former Otukpo Local Government Chairman, Rt. Hon. George Alli, officials of the distribution and transmission companies gave assurances that steps would be taken towards restoring electricity supply.
Alli said power restoration was expected to commence soon following the discussions.
The development comes amid growing complaints from residents and business owners over the prolonged blackout in Otukpo and other parts of Benue South.
The outage has affected households and commercial activities, with businesses that depend heavily on electricity forced to seek alternative sources of power.
