Abba Moro tears Gov Alia apart for neglecting Benue South
The Senator representing Benue South Senatorial District and Senate Minority Leader, Comrade Abba Moro, PhD, has come down hard on Governor Hyacinth Alia, accusing him of sidelining Benue South (Zone C) in the affairs of the state.
Senator Moro made the remark on Sunday, October 12, 2025, when he received PDP Chairmen from Oju and Obi Local Government Areas at his residence in Otukpo. The visit, according to the delegation, was to reaffirm their loyalty and appreciation for his leadership.
Addressing the visiting chairmen, Senator Moro commended their commitment to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the unity of the Igede people. He expressed regret over his absence at the Igede Agba Festival, explaining that he was out of the country at the time, but reassured them of his continuous support for the Igede nation.
Moro described the late Ajene Okpabi as one of the finest traditional rulers to have reigned as Och’Idoma, urging the people to remain united. He emphasized that the creation of Apa State would bring political balance, promising that the governorship position would rotate between the Idoma and Igede groups, similar to the rotational system among the Tiv people.
He also announced plans to begin his empowerment program for PDP principal officials across the nine Local Government Areas in 2026.
On infrastructure, Moro assured the Igede people that the long-awaited Otukpo–Obi–Oju road construction would commence once funds are released and the rainy season ends.
However, the Senator didn’t hold back in criticizing Governor Alia, accusing him of neglecting Zone C entirely. According to him, “the people of Benue South are yet to feel the presence of this government,” adding that Alia must “wake up to his responsibilities” and include Zone C in the state’s developmental plans.
Moro also called on PDP members to remain steadfast and avoid anti-party activities, noting that internal disagreements within the party would soon be resolved.
Speaking on behalf of the visiting chairmen, Hon. Ode Sunday thanked Senator Moro for his warm reception and reaffirmed the unflinching support of the Igede people. He said the PDP in Igede land was “growing stronger by the day.”
In a related development, Senator Moro later commissioned the Adu Ikpochi–Okpudu Bridge (Ward 11) in Itabono Owukpa, Ogbadibo LGA. The event witnessed the defection of members from other political parties to the PDP.
Leader of the decampees, Hon. Emmanuel Ekoja, declared that “no party can deliver Nigeria in 2027 except the PDP.”
Also present were Benue State PDP Chairman, Chief Ezekiel Adaji, Hon. Isaac Ochekliye (Member, Benue House of Assembly), Dr. Godwin Oyiwona, Hon. Lawani Regina, Hon. Alice Albert, and other prominent PDP figures.
In a touching moment, Mr. Agada Abah, a recent kidnap victim, publicly thanked Senator Moro for his intervention which led to their release.
Senator Moro concluded by pledging continued support for the people of Benue South, insisting that under his watch, the PDP will remain the true voice of the people.
