Following the sad accident involving the bus conveying players of Lobi Stars football club of Makurdi, which caught fire on their way from Ilorin after their match against Kwara United on Tuesday, Benue State deputy governor and chairman of the club, Engr Benson Abounu today visited the Players in training.
He sympathized with club over the ugly incident but expressed joy that no life was lost.
He called on the players to remain calm and assured them that government will make appropriate arrangements to get them a replacement in order to ease their movement as a team.
The deputy governor also called on the team to brace up for it’s match against Kano Pillars expressing confidence in the ability of the team not only to beat the Kano outfit but to also win the NPFL.
He restated government commitment to the welfare of the players and affirmed that his visit to the team underscores the importance the government attaches to sports development in the state.
He however charged the players to remain disciplined and play as a team to achieve desirable goals in the spirit of sportsmanship.
Responding, the team captain, Daniel Asaka thanked the Deputy Governor for visiting them and making their welfare a top priority of the state government.
He said that the visit is a huge source of motivation and encouragement to them and assured him of victory over the Kano Pillars during the weekend.
