Access Bank staff caught secretly filming over 400 illicit videos of female colleagues in restrooms
Stephen Ifeanyichukwu Ejezie, a former quality assurance specialist at Access Bank’s contact centre in Oniru, Lagos, has been caught secretly recording female colleagues in the restroom, multiple insiders told the Foundation for Investigative Journalism (FIJ).
The incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Sources revealed that Ejezie was arrested and his home was searched, where authorities reportedly found hundreds of explicit videos. Despite this, he has since been released. While Access Bank has apparently terminated his employment, many affected employees, especially contract staff, fear justice may not be served. “Maybe because we’re contract staff, they won’t fight for us,” one said.
When FIJ checked Ejezie’s LinkedIn profile on Friday morning, he still listed Access Bank as his employer. However, by afternoon, the listing had been updated to reflect his departure. Ejezie had joined the bank in February 2023 and was promoted to quality assurance specialist in October.
According to staff familiar with the situation, employees often work late shifts, and it’s not uncommon for them to sleep and even bathe at the office. One source said Ejezie snuck into the ladies’ restroom to hide a recording device. “A lady taking a bath noticed a phone recording her from a toilet cubicle. When the cubicle door was forced open, Ejezie was found inside,” the source said. “He claimed he didn’t know how he got there, but he couldn’t explain the recording.”
Further investigation led to the discovery of hundreds of videos showing male and female colleagues, many captured while naked or bathing. Following a raid on his home, police reportedly recovered over 400 videos stored on his laptop. Sources allege he sold these videos online, including on platforms like OnlyFans and Telegram, mainly to white and Indian buyers.
Former colleagues described Ejezie as “cool” and “an exceptional agent,” adding that no one would have expected such behavior from him.
However, many employees now worry that Access Bank might prioritize protecting its corporate image over supporting the victims. “What if the videos he already sold start circulating online?” one worker asked. A Friday meeting where management banned overnight stays at the office and warned of jail terms for future incidents only heightened employee anxiety.
“There’s been no real support offered,” one staff member told FIJ. “A lot of people are traumatized. Some don’t even know yet that they were recorded. This could haunt them later, even politically.”
As of press time, Access Bank had not responded to FIJ’s request for comment.
