The Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) has raised an alarm over the emergence of a new sect, “ACHAD Life Mission International,” reportedly operating in the North-West region of Nigeria.
According to a circular issued by the NIS, the sect is suspected of being involved in human trafficking and child separation.
The memo, dated January 14, 2025, and signed by AA Aridegbe, Principal Staff Officer to the Comptroller General of the NIS, identified the sect’s headquarters in Kaduna State, while its leader, identified as Yokana, resides in Jos, Plateau State.
The circular stated, “Intelligence gathered by the Service reveals the emergence of a new sect called ACHAD Life Mission International, with its headquarters in Kaduna and its leader, Mr. Yokana, based in Jos, Plateau State.
“The sect neither adheres to Islam nor Christianity but advocates the restoration of African traditions and support for humanity.
“Reports indicate the sect has been recruiting members locally and internationally and may be linked to human trafficking and child separation.
“In view of this, all state commands, directorates, zones, and training institutions are directed to remain vigilant, report any signs of the sect, and take appropriate action, including arrests where necessary.”
The NIS emphasized the importance of strict compliance with the directive to monitor and curb the activities of the sect.
