Actress Biola Bayo explains why she separated from husband

Popular Nollywood actress, Biola Bayo, has clarified why she publicly announced her separation from her husband, Oluseyi, on his birthday.

DAILY POST recalls that the actress revealed the end of their four-year marriage last week in a social media post that simultaneously marked Oluseyi’s birthday. The announcement sparked widespread criticism, with many questioning the timing and accusing her of attempting to embarrass her estranged husband.

Addressing the backlash, Biola Bayo explained that she chose to speak out to avoid misinformation or third-party narratives about her personal life. She added that her husband was aware of the decision and had consented to the post.

Speaking during the presentation of a house to fellow actress Jumoke George, Bayo said:

“I’m human too. I made the announcement because I didn’t want someone else to tell my story. That’s my style, being open, so false or hurtful things aren’t said online.”

“People were already asking why I wasn’t posting my husband, and I knew rumours would spread. I informed him before sharing the post, he was aware. But sadly, it was still used against me.”

The actress, known for her transparency, also reflected on her earlier openness when announcing the birth of their son via a surrogate mother in 2023.
