The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has suspended actress Halima Abubakar following a comprehensive investigation into her “unprofessional misconduct” involving the dissemination of unfounded rumors regarding extramarital affairs among actors and prominent Nigerians.
In a statement released on Friday, the Guild announced that Halima was found guilty of “spreading false information about fellow members, associates, and patrons, including serious allegations of extramarital affairs with influential individuals.”
The statement revealed that a special secret investigation panel conducted a two-year inquiry into her actions, concluding that Halima played a significant role in tarnishing the reputation of the industry.
“After a thorough investigation by the special Secret Investigation Panel, which was established to probe the activities of certain blogs and bloggers since 2022, it was determined that Miss Halima Abubakar was behind the defamatory information targeting our members, associates, and patrons, particularly regarding allegations of extramarital affairs involving prominent figures,” the statement explained.
As a result, Halima Abubakar has been placed on indefinite suspension from the Actors Guild of Nigeria and will face the National Disciplinary Committee to determine the appropriate penalties for her actions.
