Adeyanju hails Obi for joining protest against new Electoral Law
Human rights activist and convener of the Concerned Nigerians group, Deji Adeyanju, has praised former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, for participating in the protest at the National Assembly against the newly amended Electoral Act.
Adeyanju, in a statement on Tuesday, described the law as anti-people and a serious obstacle to genuine electoral reform in Nigeria.
“I commend Peter Obi for joining the protest at the National Assembly today against the new Electoral Act, which I believe is an anti-people law and a major hindrance to true electoral reform in Nigeria. All leaders must take a stand and actively oppose such laws,” Adeyanju said.
He stressed that the presence of prominent political leaders at the protest sends a strong message about the need for accountability and transparency in Nigeria’s electoral process.
Peter Obi had joined civil society groups, activists and concerned Nigerians in Abuja to demand the retention of provisions mandating real-time electronic transmission of election results, a key issue that has sparked nationwide debate and protests.
