Ado LG boss, James Oche advances commitment to link up severed communities, markets back to Benue

It was an exciting day for communities under the Ulayi and Ijigban wards of Ado local government who have been cut off from Benue state for a decade and half as the the council boss Comrade James Oche and his team paid them a visit.

The Nwedoga, Ndobasi, Inikiri and a host of other communities have been cut off due to the total collapse of bridges and major cuvettes linking these villages with other parts of Ado there by opening them up economically and socially to Ebonyi State.

Visiting the sites of the collapsed bridges and culverts that have left the area completely unmotorable, the Council Chairman reinstated the commitment of the Gov Samuel Ortom led administration’s commitment to carry every part of Benue along and stated categorically that the Local Government through the support of the state government will do all possible to Link them back to the state.

The last government presence was felt during the military era under the regime of Gen Ibrahim Babangida with Col. Fidelis Maka as a sole Administrator of Benue state.

The collapsed bridge across the Ado and Okpokwu River which are tributaries of the River Benue had in all these years cut off these communities from Benue state living them without an alternative but to survive through their interaction with Ebonyi State.

It was a visit that unravelled the immense economic benefits as it has been a leaking point for Internally Generated Revenue(IGR) for the state considering the Markets situated in these areas and other economic activities that have been under the control of individuals all these years.

Opening up these communities via motorable roads will further restore the people’s confidence on government and grant the state and local government the opportunity to generate revenue and boost our IGR

With a population of over 300,000 people, it became critical for government to show concern and attend to their yearnings with the sole aim of restoring power to the people.
