The Editorial Board of Idoma Voice Newspapers has named James Ogaba Oche, Caretaker Chairman, Ado Local Government Area of Benue State and Hon. Oche Joseph Godwin, the founder of foremost charity organization, G12 Foundation as joint winners of its ‘Man of the Year’ Award.
A statement by the Chairman of the 2019 Award Committee, Joshua Uloko, said in awarding IDOMA VOICE MAN OF THE YEAR investiture, the Editorial Board of the newspaper and the committee looked at individuals, whose “public conduct and action helped to inspire hope for a better Idoma community.”
He said that although, such award is not peculiar to IDOMA VOICE alone, the newspaper confers the award with every sense of responsibility.
He noted that it is a known fact that other media agencies, international organizations also confer awards in recognition of excellence and service to humanity.
The statement quoted Uloko as saying that Oche was selected winner by the Award Committee out of the numerous Idoma personalities earlier nominated for the prestigious award for his giant strides since taking over the political affairs of Ado LGC, which all added up to make him the most qualified for the prestigious category of the “IDOMA VOICE MAN OF THE YEAR 2019.”
The committee cited some developmental projects embarked on by Comrade Oche since taking over the affairs of the local council.
For Hon. Oche (G12), the organizing committee said his philanthropic gestures within Idoma land earned him the prestigious award.
Past winners of the award included: Chris Morgan, Enenche Obonyilo Peters, Prof Shamsudeen Amali, Ogenyi Onazi, Imelda J, Godshield Orokpo, George Alli, Amb. Dickson Akoh, Abel Success and ace Idoma singer Evang. Otulu Peter.
The Most Outstanding Idoma Student Award goes to Athanasius Akor, a young man who bagged first class from University of Nigeria, Nnsuka and Law School, Abuja, respectively.
The Chairman of the Award Committee, Uloko, also announced that the award ceremony and the 10th anniversary celebration of most sought after tabloid, IDOMA VOICE is slated to take place in Abuja in 2020.
