AFCON 2019: How President Buhari reacted to Super Eagles victory of Cameroon

President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated the Super Eagles of Nigeria for making progress in the ongoing African Cup of Nations, Egypt 2019, after a delightful win over defending champions, Cameroon.

“President Buhari recognises the hard work, team spirit and sportsmanship the boys have exhibited in the tournament, which are good signs for a team destined to excel”, his spokesman, Femi Adesina said in a statement.

“With yet more hurdles to scale before lifting the diadem, the President urges the team and their handlers to remain focused and determined, assuring them of the fervent prayers and support of all Nigerians”, it added.

Odion Ighalo opened scoring in the 19th minute, after his shot was deflected in by Banana.

The Indomitable Lions fought back to lead 2-1 before the break, thanks to goals from Stephane Bahoken and Clinton N’Jie.

However, Gernot Rohr’s men turned it around with two quick fire goals from Ighalo and Alex Iwobi.
