Victor Osimhen, Super Eagles striker, has been subjected to random drug tests by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) during the ongoing tournament.
According to insider information received by DAILY POST, Osimhen underwent testing in two separate instances – against hosts Cote d’Ivoire and Cameroon.
The Napoli forward played a pivotal role in Nigeria’s 1-0 victory over Cote d’Ivoire, drawing a crucial foul that led to the penalty securing the win.
Osimhen continued his impressive performance in the last-16 clash against Cameroon, contributing significantly to the 2-0 triumph.
He not only set up the first goal for Ademola Lookman but also posed a continuous threat to the Indomitable Lions before being substituted late in the game for Paul Onuachu.
Despite scoring only once in the 1-1 draw against Equatorial Guinea in their initial fixtures, Osimhen has been a standout player throughout the tournament.
As the reigning CAF Player of the Year, he is expected to lead the line for the three-time champions in the upcoming quarter-final against Angola.
