Alhassan Yusuf, who faced injury struggles at the beginning of the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire, has announced that he is back in good shape. The Royal Antwerp star suffered a thigh injury during Nigeria’s opening fixture against the Nzalang Nacional of Equatorial Guinea, causing him to miss the subsequent group games against Cote d’Ivoire and Guinea-Bissau.
Although Yusuf was sidelined for those matches, he made a return to the bench for Nigeria’s Round of 16 tie against Cameroon. Following a Monday training session at the Police College, Cocody, Abidjan, Yusuf expressed his readiness to play again, emphasizing that he is now free of discomfort and injury.
“I’m in good shape now, no discomfort or injury again,” Yusuf stated. “I’m ready to play again, but the coach will decide when he wants me to play. The team is doing well, and that is the most important thing.”
The Super Eagles are set to face the Black Antelopes of Angola in the quarter-final tie at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium, Abidjan, on Friday.
