However, the tide turned in the second half when Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong secured the lead for Nigeria with a powerful penalty.
The match concluded with a 1-0 victory for the Super Eagles, propelling Peseiro’s side to the second position in Group A with four points from two games. Ivory Coast occupies the third position with three points from an equal number of games.
