The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed that it has launched investigations into incidents arising from at least two matches at the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

CAF, on Monday, cautioned that disciplinary measures could follow the outcome of the probes.

One of the matches under scrutiny is the quarter-final encounter between Nigeria and Algeria, which reportedly degenerated into clashes among players at the final whistle, with the match referee also confronted in the tunnel.

The football body is equally examining events from another last-eight clash involving Morocco and Cameroon, where Cameroonian players were said to have angrily protested the referee’s decision not to award a penalty in the second half.

In a statement, CAF disclosed that the incidents have been referred to its disciplinary board for thorough investigation, stressing that appropriate sanctions would be imposed on any individuals found culpable of misconduct.
