The Minister of Sports Development, Sen. John Owan Enoh, shared insights from a conversation with President Bola Tinubu regarding the Super Eagles’ performance in the Africa Cup of Nations Group A clash against Guinea-Bissau.
The discussion took place during a Zoom meeting with the national team players and coaches in preparation for Nigeria’s round of 16 match against Cameroon.
President Tinubu expressed his reservations about the team’s last match, noting that he wasn’t entirely impressed. Despite Nigeria securing a 1-0 victory against Guinea-Bissau and finishing second in Group A, the President conveyed his expectations for an enhanced performance in the upcoming rounds.
Enoh relayed the President’s sentiments, stating, “One of the main reasons that made me have this call with you is the chance I had meeting with Mr. President yesterday.”
He continued, “The president is actually watching your matches and he is urging you. He knows that there was a lot of consciousness at the Group stages, and he believes that from the Round of 16, the Super Eagles will be more and more impressive.”
