Benin Republic head coach, Gernot Rohr, has stated that his team plans to exploit weaknesses in the Super Eagles’ defence during their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying clash.
The two neighbouring countries will face off in a matchday five encounter on Thursday at the Felix Houphouët-Boigny Stadium in Abidjan.
In their first matchup, the Super Eagles dominated with a 3-0 victory over the Cheetahs in Uyo.
Rohr, however, has now shared his strategy to counter the three-time African champions.
“In our list of 25 players for the two decisive matches against Nigeria and Libya, we have the return of two players that we have followed and who have played very well recently,” he told Mega Sports.
“It is Serge Obassa in the list of three goalkeepers with Alagbé and Dandjinou.
“And then we also have the return of Lenny Piringuel who, with his new club, Rouen, is starting to find his mark, his liveliness, interests us a lot. Especially against a Nigerian team that could have small problems in defence, we hope.”
