AFCON: We want to win the trophy – Moses Simon

Following a hard-fought 1-0 triumph over Angola’s Palancas Negras at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium in Abidjan, the Super Eagles have secured a spot in the semi-finals of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

Setting up Ademola Lookman for the lone goal just before halftime, Simon earned Man of the Match honors in the closely contested encounter. With two more games to go, the Super Eagles are on the brink of claiming their fourth AFCON title under Jose Peseiro’s guidance.

Simon emphasized the team’s commitment to their goal, stating, “It’s good to win the Man of the Match award again. I’m happy we won and can now look forward to playing in the semi-final. Our target remains the same—we want to win the trophy. We’re almost there now. It’s just a matter of keeping up the hard work and approaching the next game with the same determination.”

The upcoming challenge for the Super Eagles is the semi-final against the winner of the Cape Verde versus South Africa match, scheduled to take place at Stade la Paix Bouake on Wednesday.
