African China, Terry G, Zule Zoo, Acapella, Slow Dog, others storm Otukpo for Idoma International Carnival 2024
Top Nigerian entertainers have been lined up to dazzle revellers at this year’s Idoma International Carnival.
The carnival, dubbed the largest street party on the north of Niger, will kick off Otukpo from December 23 to 26, 2024.
Leading the star-studded lineup is legendary singer African China, renowned for using his music to advocate for societal change.
Joining him on stage are fan favourites like Terry G, MC Acapella, Zule Zoo, Danfo Driver, Benue Boy, Slow Dog, Israel Ekere, the “Gwumolo Lowoicho” crooner, among others.
Speaking during the announcement on Saturday, Dr Edwin Ochai, President of the Idoma International Carnival Group, stressed the significance of this year’s lineup and the carnival’s impact on the community.
Themed “The Rhythm of Our People,” Ochai noted that this year’s carnival promises a vibrant celebration of Idoma culture and unity through music, art and entertainment.
“We deliberately chose artistes like African China because his music resonates with the realities of today’s Nigeria.
“He is a voice of the people, using his art to call for accountability and good governance, which aligns perfectly with the values we hold dear.
“The Idoma International Carnival isn’t just about entertainment; it’s about creating a space where people can reconnect with their roots, celebrate diversity, and find hope amidst challenges.
“Participants will leave with memories to cherish, not just from the incredible performances but also from the rich cultural activities and networking opportunities the carnival offers,”* he said.
Dr. Ochai outlined a variety of exciting activities planned for this year’s carnival.
“This year’s carnival promises to showcase the rich culture, music, and traditions of the Idoma people.
“There will be a dazzling display of power and style as bikers from across Nigeria storm the carnival grounds.
“Of course, there will be an unforgettable experience with electrifying live performances from top artistes, blending traditional rhythms with contemporary vibes.
“A colourful procession of bands clad in vibrant costumes, delivering high-energy performances that reflect the heartbeat of Idoma culture.
“Food lovers can look forward to a culinary journey featuring an array of local and international delicacies, ensuring a feast for every tastebud.
The grand finale will feature the grace and elegance of contestants vying for the coveted Nigeria Carnival Queen title.”
Ochai added, “We aim to make this carnival an experience like no other, one that uplifts our people and highlights the beauty of Idoma culture to the world.”
