On Monday morning, March 4, a group of Abuja residents reportedly assaulted and plundered a truck transporting food items in the Dei-Dei area. This incident occurred just a day after the looting of a Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Department of Agriculture warehouse by Abuja residents, during which they seized various food supplies and other items.
A video circulating on social media captured the scene of Abuja residents pilfering bags of food items from the targeted truck. Imran Muhammad, an individual sharing the video online, described the morning incident, stating, “This morning, there was another incident of a truck carrying food items being looted in Daidai, Abuja.”
In response to the previous day’s warehouse looting, Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, expressed his perspective on the situation. During an appearance on Channels Television’s morning show, ‘The Morning Brief,’ Adegboruwa linked Sunday’s events to the frustration felt by the majority of Nigerians grappling with the economic policies of President Bola Tinubu’s administration. He emphasized that the looting serves as a message to the President and his economic team, signaling the imperative need to restructure the system to ensure the well-being and survival of Nigerians.
Adegboruwa clarified his stance, stating, “I do not support this in any way at all because we must have an environment where we can secure lives and property.” He highlighted the broader crisis of survival affecting people across the country, emphasizing the need for a comprehensive response to address the challenges faced by the population.
