Again, unknown gunmen attack Imo community, kill three

There was a resurgence of violence on Friday in Umulogho community, Obowo Local Government Area of Imo State as some yet-to-be identified gunmen on a convoy killed three persons.

The killing occurred at the popular Nwokeisiama junction in Umulogho within thirty minutes.

The yet-to-be identified victims included two men and a woman who were lying in the pool of their blood as at the time of filing this report.

An eyewitness who pleaded anonymity said the gunmen adorned in black regalia, were moving on a convoy to an unknown destination when they suddenly stopped and attacked the community.

He said, “Our community is a peaceful one. While we were just discussing about political issues, they pulled up in the community, and started attacking people. They killed two men and a woman”.

Further he said, “Our community has been thrown into mourning this evening. It is even more worrisome that the police and other security agencies did not show up while it lasted for over 30 minutes. We are less than 4 kilometers away from the Police Division, but as I speak to you, there is yet to be security presence in the area,” he lamented.

When contacted, Police Spokesperson for the State, CSP Michael Abattam confirmed the incident, saying three persons were killed by the unknown gunmen.
