Agbese clears ₦2.3m registration fees for Enone Ward Cup teams, adds training support
The lawmaker representing Ado, Okpokwu and Ogbadibo Federal Constituency, Hon Philip Agbese, has fully paid the registration fees for all 46 teams participating in the Enone Peace and Unity Tournament, popularly known as the Enone Ward Cup.
IDOMA VOICE reports that the total sum of ₦2,300,000 was remitted to the Local Organising Committee (LOC) to cover registration fees for teams drawn from the 35 council wards. In addition, each team received ₦50,000 to support pre-competition training and preparations.
The tournament, widely regarded as a platform for promoting peace, unity, and sportsmanship across Enone, will see teams from various communities compete for the coveted Ward Cup trophy.
Speaking through a statement, the President of the LOC, AKOR Ikwuoche, expressed gratitude to Hon. Agbese for his generosity and commitment to youth development and sports.
“We congratulate all the teams and pray that God blesses Hon. Chief Dr. Philip Agbese, the jinx breaker, for this tremendous support,” the statement read.
Local football enthusiasts lauded the gesture, noting that Agbese’s support goes beyond financial assistance. By funding both registration and training, he has ensured that teams can focus on preparation and fair competition, rather than worrying about logistics and fees.
The tournament is expected to kick off in the coming days, drawing participants and spectators from all wards, with hopes that it will foster lasting bonds and healthy competition across the constituency.
