Air Peace issues statement after clash with Oshiomhole

Following a widely circulated report alleging a physical altercation between former Edo State Governor and Senator, Adams Oshiomhole, and airport officials at the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos, Nigerian airline Air Peace has issued an official statement condemning what it described as “unruly conduct by a prominent Nigerian politician.”
Although the statement, released on June 11, 2025, did not name Oshiomhole directly, it detailed an incident involving a high-profile individual who arrived late for Flight P47120 bound for Abuja and, upon missing the flight, allegedly turned violent.
According to Air Peace, the politician arrived at Terminal 1 (Zulu Hall) at approximately 6:10 AM for a 6:30 AM flight. In line with the airline’s standard policy on timely departures, the boarding process had closed by then, and the flight departed as scheduled.
The airline stated that the politician, upon being informed he had missed the flight, physically assaulted staff members, forcefully barricaded the terminal entrance, and even sealed off the entry gate, obstructing other passengers from accessing the facility. The altercation reportedly caused widespread disruption to airport operations and delayed multiple flights.
To mitigate further disruption, Air Peace said it activated an emergency operational plan to reroute affected passengers through an alternate terminal.
“We are deeply saddened that such a high-profile figure displayed conduct so unbecoming and disruptive to fellow passengers and our personnel,” the statement read. “Air Peace maintains a zero-tolerance stance on violence or any form of aggression against our staff and passengers.”
The airline reaffirmed its commitment to discipline, integrity, and due process, adding, “No individual, no matter how influential, is above these values.”
The incident, believed to involve Senator Adams Oshiomhole, has since gone viral on social media, with many Nigerians expressing outrage over the reported behavior and applauding the airline’s firm stance.
