The name Terver Akase is a household name and has continued to gain more popularity beginning from the day he was unveiled alongside other aspirants in gboko by the executive governor of Benue state, as the possible successor.
No one is arguing against his capabilities and leadership qualities to deliver on the Benue mandate, but have hammered more on his age and financial status.
This write up is set to bring out the basics to help us in our analysis and arguments given references to past governors of the state and their age when they took over the affairs of the state.
Late governor Appolos Aper Aku, was born in the year 1938, he was elected as governor in the year 1979, he was 41years when he came into power. He was a teacher before emerging as governor.
Late fr Moses Orshio Adasu was born in the 1945 and was elected as governor in the year 1992 at the age of 47years. He was a Catholic priest.
His excellency, Sen George Akume was born in 1953 and was elected as governor in the year 1999. He was 46years. A civil servant.
His excellency, senator Gabriel Suswam was born in the year 1964 and was elected and came in power in 2007. He was 43 years. A lawyer.
The incumbent governor Samuel Ortom was born in 1961, was elected as governor in 2015 at the age of 54 years. He is a businessman/politician.
The incoming governor of Benue state in 2023 Hon Terver Akase was born in 1977 and by the grace of God will take over from his boss in 2023 at the age of 46 years. A civil servant
Judging from the above, Hon Terver falls in the same age brackets with all the past governors of Benue state. Terver Akase may not be so rich but he is certainly not too poor to run. His experience in the public service and the opportunity to work closely with other governors has placed him above other contenders
