Minister of Special Duties and Inter-governmental Affairs, Senator George Akume has lauded the initiative of Governor Samuel Ortom on the occasion of the inauguration of commercial flights into Makurdi, the state capital by Air Peace.
Senator Akume among others said it was a dream come true under the Governor after several attempts by previous administrations to have regular flights into Makurdi, even as he thanked the Governor and wished Benue people as well as foreigners happy flights.
Governor Ortom said he was grateful to God for the historic ceremony of having commercial airflights from Abuja and Lagos into and from Makurdi.
He appreciated the management of Air Peace for partnering with Benue for the feat, saying the flights would open up the state for investors which would also boost economic activities and opportunities for the state.
The Governor thanked Senator Akume for being part of the ceremony and for being one of the first to be airlifted to Abuja through the Air Peace Aircraft with registration number 5N-BXG.
Ground Operations Manager Air Peace, Mr. Adeyemi Ayodeji who spoke for Chairman Air Peace Barrister Ifechukwu Onyema said it was a historic feat as no airline currently operates commercial flights from Lagos or Abuja into Makurdi.
The flights operations will be three times a week with Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from Lagos through Abuja to Makurdi and vice versa.
