The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has refuted claims that it refused to register Science and Laboratory Technology (SLT) graduates at its Gombe State orientation camp.
Reports had suggested that polytechnic graduates in SLT were denied registration due to a lack of professional certificates from the National Institute for Science Laboratory Technology (NISLT).
Mrs. Chinwe Nwachuku, the state NYSC Coordinator, labeled these reports as “untrue and baseless.”
She clarified, “No SLT graduate was denied registration; all graduates who arrived in Gombe were registered and are currently undergoing their orientation course.”
Nwachuku further explained, “In the Gombe camp, I am unaware of any SLT graduate being turned away. We registered everyone, regardless of whether they had a license or not. The directive from headquarters was to register all graduates, with or without a license.”
She concluded, “As far as the Gombe camp is concerned, no one was denied registration.”
