Information reaching us indicated that a Benue teenager named as Sunday Isaac Okebe, may have been sentenced to life imprisonment in Lagos State.
The information is still sketchy, but according to our source, Okebe was “falsely accused of raping a four-year-old daughter, Elena Anyanwu,” of a tenant in a house where the accused worked as a security guard at Aja, Lekki area of the state.
Okebe of Obussa Ugburu Okoyongo, Oju LGA of Benue state origin had been in remand custody over the accusation.
Our source said he was first detained at Elemoron Police Station at Aja during the Covid-Lockdowns during which efforts made to get him bailed failed.
One Ogbu David Eba who said he had kept close tabs with the boy’s arrest, detention, feared the accused may have been sentenced to life on a charge of defilement.
Eba said he had witnesses of the girl’s parent instigating her to lie against the accused and could have them produced to testify at the witness box if opportunity was given.
He, however, feared that Okebe might have been sentenced or his detention looping without allowing a bail and couldn’t tell the status of the case at the time he contacted jamesibechi.com
He called on Omi Ny’Igede in Lagos and lovers of justice to wade in as all efforts he singlehandedly made to get a lawyer to stand for Okebe failed.
