Allen Onyema alleges dangerous campaign to defame Air Peace
Air Peace Chairman and CEO, Allen Onyema, has expressed concerns over a growing and dangerous campaign aimed at defaming the airline. Onyema made the statement during a stakeholders’ meeting on flight disruptions, where industry leaders discussed the rising issues of delays and cancellations.
Onyema revealed that since Air Peace began its London operations in February 2024, the airline has faced sustained attacks, primarily originating from Nigeria. He said these attacks involve false accusations of flight delays and cancellations, even when the airline was not at fault.
The airline CEO pointed out that misleading videos and fake news have been circulating on social media, further tarnishing the airline’s reputation. He recalled a fabricated report claiming an Air Peace flight had crashed in Western Sahara, with casualties, which was later proven to be untrue. Onyema called for security agencies to investigate these attacks, warning that the malicious campaign is becoming increasingly harmful.
Onyema stressed that the aim of these attacks is to undermine the achievements of the Nigerian aviation industry, particularly under President Bola Tinubu’s administration, which has seen improvements in business operations and the overall aviation sector. He urged authorities to take action to prevent further damage to the airline and the industry as a whole.
