Allow Ifeanyi Ubah’s widow replace him as Anambra South Senator – Ndume appeals to Senate

Senator Ali Ndume, representing Borno South, has urged the Senate to allow Uchenna Ubah, the widow of the late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, to succeed him as the representative of Anambra South Senatorial District.

Ndume made this appeal during a valedictory session held on Tuesday to honor the late senator, emphasizing the importance of preserving Ubah’s legacy and ensuring continuity in representing his constituency.

“I appeal to you, Mr. President, to keep the spirit and aspirations of Ifeanyi alive,” Ndume stated. He cited historical precedents, including Margery Okadigbo, who succeeded her late husband, Chuba Okadigbo, in the Senate, and First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, who built upon the legacy of her husband, former Lagos Governor Bola Tinubu, during her time in the Senate.

Ndume further referenced other lawmakers like Senator Tokunbo Abiru, Senator Abdulaziz Yar’Adua, Senator Iyabo Obasanjo, and Senator Ede Dafinone, all of whom upheld their family legacies in the Senate.

Highlighting Uchenna Ubah’s suitability, he added, “His wife, fortunately, is around 50 years old and was a wonderful support system to him. I appeal to my distinguished colleagues to support the idea of his family having a representative in this chamber. This will ensure continuity and honor for Anambra South Senatorial District.”

Uchenna Ubah was present in the Senate Chamber during the session held in her late husband’s honor.
