Amaka Patience Sunnberger: Woman behind viral video advocating for mass poisoning of Edo, Yorubla people

Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), has identified the Nigerian woman behind a disturbing viral video that promotes the mass poisoning of South-Westerners and the people of Benin, Edo State.

The woman, Amaka Patience Sunnberger, who resides in Ontario, Canada, made the alarming statements during a TikTok live session.

In the video, which has spread widely across social media, Sunnberger, speaking in Pidgin English, explicitly called for the poisoning of food and water sources intended for the Yoruba and Benin communities. She proclaimed, “It is time to start poisoning the Yorubas and the Benins… I will put Otapiapia (rat poison) inside your waters and foods. You people will never get well.”

The video features others in the live session suggesting additional poisons like “Eat and Die” and “Sniper,” which Sunnberger appeared to endorse. Her hateful rhetoric included a call for the Igbos to embrace similar malice, stating, “I want Igbos to have a heart of wickedness. You people are too quiet. You are too cool. Enough is enough.”

In reaction to the video, Abike Dabiri-Erewa confirmed that Canadian authorities have been notified of Sunnberger’s dangerous intentions.

Dabiri-Erewa took to her X (formerly Twitter) account to share Sunnberger’s picture and noted, “This is the picture of the lady behind the voice. Amaka Patience Sunnberger.

“She has deleted her TikTok account, and a group of Nigerians in Canada are reporting her officially to the relevant authorities in Canada. Thanks for alerting everyone.”
