Men of the Ondo State Security Network Agency popularly known as Amotekun have rescued 17 travellers who were abducted around Ifira-Akoko, in Akoko South-East Local Government Area of the state.
The passenger bus was said to be heading for Abuja from Lagos when it was attacked by a gang of armed robbers and taken into the nearby bush.
They were rescued after members of Amotekun stormed the bush and their bus and belongings were recovered.
The state commander of the corps, Adetunji Adeleye, while parading the suspects on Thursday explained that the prime suspect was arrested after a disagreement between him and one another suspect who was shot dead by him.
The prime suspect identified as Musa Jamiu in his confessional statement said he is from Okene, Kogi State.
Amotekun boss in the state explained that the travellers have been rehabilitated and will be reunited with their families.
In a related development, men of Amotekun corps apprehended 17 young men in Okitipupupa with 33 local dogs while trying to gain access to the forest behind the army barracks in the town.
According to Adeleye, when interrogated, the men could not explain their mission.
About 15 cutlasses, 25 armlets and other charms were recovered from them.
