Miss Chinyere Awuda, a young woman from Nnobi in Idemmili South Local Government Area of Anambra State, tragically lost her life last weekend at Cosmila Hotel in Awka, Anambra State. She was brutally beaten to death by a group of fun seekers at the hotel’s club.
According to sources, the unfortunate incident occurred when Mr. Gabriel Chinemere, a well-known club-goer, and his companions started assaulting her. Despite attempts by others present to intervene and rescue her, the relentless beating and harassment persisted.
The altercation reportedly began when one of the clubbers accused Miss Awuda of picking money that was being sprayed on their friend during a birthday celebration. Some witnesses claim that she not only picked money but also went for bundles of cash that were left near a clubber’s seat, waiting to be used in the celebration.
Eyewitnesses mentioned that some girls at the club often take advantage of the situation, dressing up and coming to the club solely to pick money from the celebrants while they are inebriated. The assailants allegedly believed Miss Awuda was engaging in such behavior, which led to the violent altercation.
Tragically, the situation escalated, and the assailants dragged Miss Awuda outside the club, where they heartlessly disposed of her lifeless body in the hotel’s swimming pool.
Anambra State Police Spokesperson, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the incident and stated that the birthday celebrant and his friends have been taken into police custody as investigations into the case are underway. He also clarified that Cosmila Hotel’s management assisted the police in apprehending the suspects, despite initial speculations about their involvement.
The community mourns the loss of Miss Chinyere Awuda, and authorities are diligently working to uncover the truth behind this tragic event.
