The Aida Nath Campaign Organization (ANCO), has expressed sadness over the death of foremost Nationalist and patriot Elder Paul Iyorpuu Unongo who died earlier today in Jos at age 87.
The campaign organization described his demise as a heavy loss to the Benue community and wish the entire family the fortitude to bear the loss noting that Unongo’s towering influence, achievements, intellect and oratory prowess in the evolution of contemporary Nigeria remain extraordinarily spectacular.
Unongo a renowned social democrat and Benue politician was born on September 26, 1937. The Democrat, became a minister of Steel Development and later Minister of Mines and Power in the Nigerian Second Republic.
In 2017, the Northern Elders Forum also named Paul Unongo as its new chairman after the death of Late. Maitama Sule.
ANCO also commiserates with the Former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aspirant for the Kwande/Ushongo Federal Constituency in Benue State, Hon. Thomas Tyolumun Unongo and the entire family.
ANCO prayed that God in His infinite mercies grant the departed elder statesman eternal rest and urge the family, to take solace in the fact that Unongo lived an exemplary life worthy of emulation.
