The governor of Kaduna state, Malam Nasir El-Rufa’i has condemned the killing of two herders by mob lynching.
The herders were seized from security agencies at Birnin Gwari local government area of the state.
According to reports, the herders were alleged to have been connected to banditry.
Sources revealed that the mob seized the two from security agencies and burnt them.
This was confirmed in a statement by the Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan on Sunday.
Aruwan said the governor was saddened by the mob action .
According to the statement: “Governor El-Rufai expressed deep concern at the violent actions of the mob, and strongly condemned the extra-judicial killings.
“He reiterated the place of lawful methods as the only acceptable option in confronting any suspicions of criminality.”
The governor further appealed for calm from the families of the victims while directing a thorough investigation into the incident.
