The youths of Ipole Owukpa have taken over the mortuary built by one Chinedu in the ancestral headquarters of Owukpa people.
IDOMA VOICE reports that the new mortuary was built at Ai-Eyi, Ai-Aroga, Ai-Uji in Ipole Owukpa community.
It was gathered that the owner, identified as is Chinedu Ugwu, allegedly has a mortuary in Adoka community and decided to expand the branch of the morgue to Ipole Owukpa.
The reports claimed that the ‘merchant of death’ purchased the land at the rate of 800,000 from the seller, Mr. Emaikwu Abah, who is an indigene of the community.
However, despite refusal by the host community to allow him float his ‘lifeless business’, Chinedu few days back launched the mortuary after claiming to have obtained necessary documents from backing from Makurdi, through the local government.
However, findings have revealed that the local government council was not aware of the development.
“Nobody gave him any back from the council. In fact, the man is on his own,” a source in the LG secretariat told IDOMA VOICE on Saturday.
IDOMA VOICE observed that when the merchant of death sensed that danger was looming, he fled the town, leaving his motor behind.

Consequently, the youths went and tied palm fronds around the place, signifying that no one should step into the place.
The angry youths also bundled the attendant and handed him over the police.
Angered by the development, Mr. Emaikwu Abah, who sold the land to him, went and dismantled the palm fronds.
He was also arrested and currently in police custody.
The community youths have been protesting, calling for the demolition of the building.
