Another homegrown security outfit, the Homeland Defense have arrested another suspected armed robbery gang in Otukpo for various offences.
According to the Police, the suspects which includes Ogbu Ogaba, Daniel James, Samuel Peter, Paul okoh, Ogwu obenyi AKA coolio and Oche Umoru AKA General; were arrested at different locations in Otukpo.
Guns of different calibers were recovered from the gang members. They have been handed over to the intelligence Response Team (IRT) and moved to Abuja for further investigation.
In a related development, the Homeland Defense have also arrested another set of robbery suspects in Otukpo. In the video Attached to this post, the suspect who gave his name as Ogbu Ogaba. Ogaba who hailed from Ado LG confessed to have been part of a five man robbery gang group that robbed Exim pharmacy sometime ago in Otukpo.
Others mentioned by him are: Remedy of Egli Avenue; Jeff from Upu village; Francis Obeya, grandson of late Chief. Obande Obeya, an Okada rider from Akpegede who goes by the alias NGC.
He said the gun they used during the robbery operation at Exim Pharmacy were procured from a guy known as Embassy and Junior. The Police have moved some of the gang members to Makurdi and said they will go after the two others said to be at large.
The Executive Chairman of Otukpo Local Government, RT. Hon George Alli, in his reaction, showered praises on Homeland Defence, Vigilante groups in Otukpo, the Otukpo Police Division and the IRT.
He expressed deep satisfaction for the roles played by the various security outfits. Alli said the security groups have made the people of Otukpo proud and that the people remain solidly behind them. He reiterated that the Council will not relent in its resolve to stamp out criminality in Otukpo.
The Chairman reminded Otukpo residents of about the slogan from last month’s security summit. He reechoed the slogan; “If you see something, say something”.
