A magistrate’s court sitting in Nomansland area of Kano metropolis has ordered the remand of Abdulmajid Danbilki Kwamanda, a renowned critic of Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje.
He was remanded for three count charges bordering on character assassination of the Governor.
Kwamanda was said to have alleged that Ganduje bribed the Mai Mala Buni-led All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership to get his factional leader, Abdullahi Abbas, obtain the party’s certificate of return as Kano APC chairman.
The magistrate, Aminu Magashi, on Tuesday, ordered Kwamanda to be remanded at a correctional centre after declining the defense counsels’ bail application.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty.
The judge then adjourned the court’s session till March 15, 2022, and ordered the defendant to be remanded till then.
Kwamanda, a staunch Ganduje critic, has been attacking the governor on most of his radio political programmes.
He, however, is not the first critic of the Governor to be remanded.
In January, another critic and former Ganduje’s Commissioner, Mu’az Magaji, was equally remanded in correctional facility for a similar offence.
