Emmanuel Eche-Ofun John
The immediate past Minister of Interior and the Benue South PDP senatorial flag bearer for the 2019 general elections, Comr. Abba Moro, has decried the communal clash in Apa LGA of Benue state, which has claimed some lives.
Commenting on the incident on Tuesday in Abuja, Comr. Moro said the clash was very unfortunate and uncalled for.
He said that as brothers that the Idomas are, they ought to love one another and live peacefully together.
He appealed for calm, stressing that communities should embrace the locally established Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) to resolve their differences amicably, and not resorting to violence.
‘I’m saddened by the development. We can’t kill ourselves. We are a family, we can’t afford to hurt one another considering the blood relationship that exists between us. I plead with my brothers in Apa to sheath their swords and allow peace to reign,’ he stated.
The bloody communal conflict is between Okwiji clan in Edikwu district and Ugbobi community, all in Apa local government area of the state. The conflict is said to be over a piece of land that’s suspected to have oil deposit.
