Security has been strengthened across Kaduna metropolis ahead of President Bola Tinubu’s expected visit on Saturday for the flag-off of the All Progressives Congress APC 2027 presidential campaign.

Security personnel, including police officers, operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC and officials of the Kaduna State Traffic Law Enforcement Authority KASTLEA, have been deployed to strategic locations across the city.

Plain-clothes operatives and patrol vehicles were also sighted along major roads, roundabouts and areas surrounding the Kaduna Township Stadium, the venue of the rally.

Security officials have also been assigned to protect campaign posters and billboards bearing images of Tinubu and Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, particularly against possible vandalism at night.

Preparations were ongoing at the 8,000-capacity Kaduna Township Stadium on Friday, with the facility repainted and decorated with APC flags ahead of the president’s arrival.

Roads leading to the venue have also been adorned with campaign posters and billboards, while the stadium’s pavilions, toilets and other facilities have been prepared for guests. Access to the premises has been restricted ahead of the event.

Tinubu is expected to be joined by governors from the seven North-West states, alongside party supporters and political stakeholders from across the country.

The chairperson of the Local Organising Committee LOC and Kaduna State Deputy Governor, Dr Hadiza Balarabe, expressed satisfaction with the level of preparations.

She said the committee expected a large turnout of APC members and supporters, adding that the North-West remained a stronghold of the party.
