APC Chieftain launch ‘unity tournament’ for FCT youths

Adebayo Benjamins-Laniyi, a prominent figure within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has taken a commendable step towards fostering unity among the region’s residents by initiating a “unity football tournament.”

This remarkable initiative is a collaborative effort between the Adebayo Benjamins-Laniyi Foundation and the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA). The opening ceremony, held at the FCT Sports Stadium, saw Benjamins-Laniyi emphasizing the power of sports in promoting unity and peace among the six Area Councils that constitute the Federal Capital Territory and beyond.

In her address, she highlighted how sports can bridge gaps between individuals and communities, transcending barriers of tribe, religion, and political affiliation. By bringing together FCT youths through this championship tournament, she aims to provide them with a platform to connect, grow, and develop essential sportsmanship qualities.

Benjamins-Laniyi expressed her belief in the potential of the youth, recognizing them as the future leaders who require nurturing and attention. She stressed that unity is the backbone of any nation and urged the young generation to embrace sportsmanship as a means to build a more unified and harmonious country, thereby becoming national heroes.

Mr. Lukas Istifanus, the Director of Sports in the FCT Administration, lauded the organizer’s efforts in investing in the development of youths through sporting activities, particularly at the grassroots level. He reaffirmed the FCT Administration’s commitment to promoting sports and its positive impact on the community.
