The former Minority Whip of the House of Reps, Nelson Alapa, has distanced himself from a post where he allegedly congratulated Governor Samuel Ortom of the Peoples Democratic Party on his reelection.
Alapa, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, said he never authorized any group to issue any statement on his behalf.
His statement below.
My attention has been drawn to a post circulating on the social media that I signed and extended a congratulatory message to Gov Samuel Ortom on behalf of a yet to be identified group using the picture.
Much as there may be nothing wrong congratulating the Governor it is also necessary to set the records straight as I even if would do so will through the appropriate channel.
For the avoidance of doubt, the post circulating was done 4 years ago when his Excellency was elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress. I have not signed any of such messages under any guise or on behalf of any groups both within and outside the country.
While calling on mischief makers to steer clear of spreading falsehood just to earn peanuts, I wish to call on my supporters to disregard such mischievous posts as we forge ahead into the next level.
