The Progressive Governors Forum has formally endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the sole presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 general elections.

The endorsement was announced at the ongoing APC National Summit held at the Banquet Hall of the State House in Abuja, signalling a unified front within the party’s leadership.

Chairman of the Forum and Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, moved the motion for Tinubu’s endorsement, which was seconded by Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State. The move reflects widespread support among the APC governors for Tinubu’s second-term ambition.

Speaking on behalf of his colleagues, Uzodimma pledged the forum’s full commitment to rallying support for the president across their various states, commending Tinubu’s leadership and the impact of his reform agenda.

The endorsement builds on a series of similar declarations by APC leaders across the country. It follows a recent vote of confidence passed by North Central governors, who praised Tinubu’s inclusive governance and development-focused policies.

The Progressive Governors Forum’s support strengthens Tinubu’s position within the APC as he prepares to seek re-election amid growing political maneuvering from opposition figures.

Among those strategizing ahead of 2027 are former PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar and ex-Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, both of whom are reportedly aligning with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in what appears to be a major coalition effort to challenge the APC’s hold on power.
