In what looks like an executive scam, the federal government of Nigeria in a desperate bid to win votes in Benue South in the 2019 elections, on Monday re-flagged off the dualization of Otukpo township road with funfair and media hypes.
Surprisingly, the road had since been awarded to Rockbridge Construction company over half a decade ago at N1bn.
IDOMA VOICE reports that Chairman of the Committee on Works, Senator Kabiru Gaya had in 2016 disclosed that the federal government, had in 2016 paid the said contractor N1 billion.
Findings by this newspaper reveal that Rockbridge won the contract ahead of four other companies, which bided for the project in 2014.
Evidently, a signpost mounted in the heart of Otukpo inscribes that Rockbridge was behind the project with the federal ministry of work as the supervisor.
A document obtained by this newspaper shows that four companies, which earlier bided for the contract were, Cavudos Nigeria Limited, China Zhonghao Nig Ltd, Hartland Nig Ltd as well as Rockbridge Construction Ltd, which eventually won the contract.
The contract number as obtained by the reporter is 6259.
Established in 1990, Rockbridge Construction Limited is a premier construction company based in Nigeria, specializing in infrastructure, highway and bridge projects.
It has handled several abandoned projects in Benue South, which include the Otukpo-Utonkon-Igumale road project, which was awarded to it for N2.9 billion.
Findings also reveal that the head office of the company is located on No 49 Gana Road, Miatama- Abuja, FCT Nigeria.
Also, investigations by this newspaper show that the Operations Manager of the company is a white man by name, Daher Kawerma.
Another exclusive finding by IDOMA VOICE shows that the company’s RC number is 152320, employer code is PR0000152320 while its compliance certificate number is 0004429. The company has about 126 workers as at last check.
The amount of contribution the company remitted in 2014 was N8,859,781.25.
However, many residents of the area are wondering why the noise about the flag-off on the project has is believed to be under construction.
