There is an ongoing battle in the camp of the All Progressives Congress in Benue State for Prof Innocent Ujah to be removed as the pioneer Vice Chancellor of the Federal Science University of Health Sciences Otukpo.
IDOMA VOICE gathered that those who are making frantic efforts to oust Ujah as the VC, hinged their reason on the fact that he is loyal to a seating senator and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP-led government in the state.
It was gathered that the group under the auspices of Concerned Idoma Elders of Thoughts have already written a petition to be submitted to President Muhammadu Buhari, the Minister of Education and the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education.
“Last week, they met in a house of one former senator in Abuja where they concluded the plan to write the petition against Ujah.
“They are also mobilizing a young man from Idoma land who is known for organizing protest to lead a protest against Ujah if Buhar in fails to remove him this week,” the source said.
However, another sources said the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Arch. Sunny Echono will never allow that happen.
“They have been trying to see Echono but he is not interested in their noise. He won’t even give them a listening ear. It is sad that most of the people against him are from same Okpokwu with Ujah, but I can assure you that they will hit rocks,” he told IDOMA VOICE.
Similarly, a Special Assistant to Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State on Health, Gideon Obande, said any attempt to remove Ujah, as the VC witchcraft.
According to him, fighting Prof Innocent Ujah is an open endorsement of mediocrity.
He wrote, “It will amount to celebrating mediocrity for any individual or group of the Idoma extraction to rise against this intellectual giant of the Idoma nation bearing in mind that there is no better person to have taken charge than that nations number medical doctor bearing in mind his status as NMA 01.
