The All Progressives Congress (APC) has secured a sweeping victory in the Sokoto State local government elections, winning all 23 chairmanship positions along with the associated councillorship roles.
The announcement was made on Monday by Alhaji Aliyu Suleiman, chairman of the Sokoto State Independent Electoral Commission.
The elections took place last Saturday, with participation from 15 political parties; notably, the main opposition, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), chose not to participate in the electoral process.
Following the declaration of results, the victorious candidates received their certificates of return, officially recognizing them as elected officials.
The newly elected chairmen are scheduled to be sworn in by Governor Ahmed Aliyu today at 4 PM.
