APC warned Obaseki’s to stop inciting people against Tinubu’s govt

APC Warns Obaseki Against Inciting Public Opinion Towards Tinubu’s Government

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has issued a cautionary message to Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo state, advising him to refrain from instigating the populace of the state against the leadership of President Bola Tinubu.

The political party further asserted that Governor Obaseki was attempting to attribute the dilapidated state of Edo’s roads to the Federal Government, accusing him of attempting to shift the responsibility for his perceived “inefficiency” onto the nascent Tinubu administration.

Governor Obaseki had previously attributed the deplorable condition of federal roads in the state to the Federal Government, citing the adverse impact of the removal of petrol subsidies and the resultant surge in essential commodity prices as the cause of widespread hardship among the people.

However, in an official press release endorsed by Blessing Agbomhere, the South-South Zonal Organising Secretary of the APC, the party countered that the governor had adopted a convenient strategy of ascribing his own shortcomings to President Tinubu’s administration, which had only recently assumed office and was actively pursuing the removal of the burdensome fuel subsidy that had been straining the federal revenue.

The APC emphasized that Governor Obaseki, who succeeded former Nigeria Labour Congress president Adams Oshiomhole, had not produced tangible accomplishments during his tenure of over seven years. Instead, the party contended that he was overshadowed by the significant developmental achievements of his predecessor.

The press statement stated, “Even in the face of a challenging economic climate in 2008, with the state’s monthly revenue plummeting to N1.6 billion due to global economic factors and an internal revenue generation of N30 million, aggregating to N1.9 billion, Governor Obaseki has been unable to showcase substantial progress.”

The APC challenged Governor Obaseki to provide concrete evidence of his contributions, rather than resorting to making promises that were seldom followed through, as evidenced by the numerous Memoranda of Understanding signed with fictitious entities that yielded no discernible results.

The party concluded its statement by urging Governor Obaseki to desist from sowing discord among the people of Edo State regarding President Bola Tinubu’s administration. It called on Nigerians to exercise patience, as the transformative process was slated to commence soon with the selection, assessment, and swearing in of cabinet ministers, anticipated to transpire in the imminent days.
