Members of the Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) took to the street of Kano on Thursday to protest the disbandment of the special anti-robbery squad (SARS).
There has been a nationwide outrage over the excesses of SARS, following which Mohammed Adamu, inspector-general of police (IGP), dissolve the squad.
The protesting youth carried placards with the inscriptions: “Arewa is Bleeding,” “Stop the Killings in the North,” and “Empower SWAT to Stop Killings, Kidnappings, Rape,”.
